Chichester's historic 900 year old Cathedral
A trip to the historic and bustling City of Chichester is not complete without a visit to the 900 year old Cathedral, a living church whose spire dominates the horizon for miles around. This magnificent Cathedral is Mother Church to the parishes of Sussex and welcomes visitors of any faith and those with none. With history, heritage, art and music – and the beautiful Bishop’s Palace Gardens to explore – it’s a must-see for visitors of all ages.
The Cathedral is open every day all year round. Guided tours for small groups run at 11.30am and 2.30pm from Monday to Saturday – tours last about an hour with tickets to be purchased on the day from the Cathedral Shop. There are a number of special trails for children of all ages to help them learn and have fun while exploring this wonderful building.
Self-catering and B&B accommodation is also available at a number of the historic properties located adjacent to the Cathedral.
Check the Cathedral website for a vibrant calendar of events including exhibitions, talks, lectures, lunchtime and evening concerts, many free of charge. You are very welcome to drop in and join one of the daily services, or just wander freely in this extraordinary and atmospheric building.
Entry free, donations welcome.
