The most perfect English garden
Goodnestone is a haven of beautiful tranquillity hidden away in south-east Kent. The gardens were created by generations of the Fitzwalter family, and Jane Austen was a frequent visitor as her brother lived on the estate.
There are 14 acres of garden to explore and discover at your own pace, including a walled garden, an arboretum, a gravel garden, a box parterre, a rockery and pond, a wonderful wisteria planted over 70 years ago and several outstanding ancient trees. The reinstated 18th century Serpentine Walk winds its way through the parkland allowing fine views of the Mansion. The gardens also provide the setting for special events, such as concerts, plays, plant fairs and wedding receptions.
For the Old Dairy Café our chef has devised a mouth-watering menu using locally sourced food, including produce from the Gardens. Everything is freshly made on site, including bread, pastries and cakes.
We look forward to your visit.
