Stretching from the Wirral peninsula to Lancashire and Cumbria, this coastline offers the opportunity to enjoy the entertainment of Liverpool and the large seaside resorts of Southport and Blackpool, then get away from it all on large expanses of rural coastline with beautiful nature reserves and a choice of coastal walks. You're spoilt for things to do on the north west coast of England!

The Lancashire coastline offers a choice of charming Victorian seaside resorts including Cleveleys, Fleetwood and St Anne’s.  In Blackpool, you will find a year-round programme of top-class entertainment. Visit The Blackpool Tower, home to 7 attractions including the world famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom which is known and celebrated for both its stunning architecture and fantastic dance floor, making it the perfect place for Afternoon Tea.

The shoreline of Morecambe is dominated by the wonderfully restored art deco Midland Hotel, with incredible views across the bay. Stroll along Morecambe’s promenade and enjoy the series of award winning sculptures and statues.  Alternatively, the pretty seaside village of Heysham is full of attractive 17th century cottages and the ancient St Patrick’s Chapel.

More than just lakes and mountains, Cumbria boasts more than 100 miles of stunning coastline from the Solway Firth to Morecambe Bay.

The Cumbrian coast has a rich variety of experiences to excite visitors, from the towering sandstone cliffs that dominate the Heritage Coast at St Bees, to something a bit different at Whitehaven’s Rum Story museum. Don’t miss a visit to Ravenglass, the Lake District National Park’s only coastal village, and take time to explore Muncaster Castle and enjoy a trip on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway.

For keen walkers, the Lake District offers many incredible routes - also check out England's Coast Path, the north west section runs from the Scottish Border to the Welsh Border and has some incredible scenery!

The North West coastline offers lots of opportunities to get active!

If you're looking for a great cycle route, check out the 81-mile Bay Cycleway which takes riders through the Arnside & Silverdale area of outstanding natural beauty. Cycle the relatively flat route that hugs the spectacular coastline of Morecambe Bay along quiet roads, greenways, canal towpaths and promenades - great family fun!

Alternatively, visit the ‘Golf Coast’ near Southport, home to three Open Championship courses and 7 other top quality courses.

Get back to nature on the north west coast with a visit to one of the many nature reserves and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the North West coast, including Walney Island which is home to two nature reserves, or spot wild fallow deer at Holker Hall and Gardens.

Connecting UK flights to Manchester.

By Train
Two trains per hour from central London direct to Liverpool in under 3 hours or to Blackpool (3 hours). Further regional links can be made along the coast.

Several coaches a day direct from central London to Lancaster in under 7 hours.
