A traditional local pub with a rich history

Located in the town of Verwood, the Monmouth Ash joined the Hall & Woodhouse family in 1937 and is a perfect example of a quality English village pub, serving traditional pub fayre, as well as award winning Badger beers. Indeed the pub’s name, unique in Britain, commemorates the 1685 capture of the Duke of Monmouth (Charles II’s illegitimate son) in Verwood, after his rebellion was defeated and his clothes were found under an Ash tree.
