A not to be missed destination in Cornwall!
Geevor Tin Mine was the last mine to work in the famous St Just Mining District and is now part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. Geevor is set on the cliffs between the rugged Penwith moors and the magnificent North Atlantic coast in the village of Pendeen approximately 7 miles from Penzance. Here you can discover the amazing story of Cornwall's tin and copper mining and the people that worked in it.
Put your hard hat on and explore the mine! Get interactive in our Hard Rock Museum. Discover how the rock was mined and brought up from 600 metres below the ground. You can go underground into 18th century Wheal Mexico Mine. Relax and enjoy the fantastic coastal scenery; walk the nature trails.
There is FREE all day parking for our visitors and FREE entry to our shop and cafe. Whatever the weather there is so much to see and do for all ages at world famous Geevor Tin Mine. 'Brilliant for all ages. Best day out of the holiday!' Sarah. 2018 Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor.
Until very recently Geevor was an operating mine and is built on a steep slope. As a result some of the areas of the site are not accessible to those with mobility or visual impairments.
We would like everybody to be able to visit us and enjoy the site and are working towards this aim.
Currently there is wheelchair access to the Hard Rock Museum, a number of the mine buildings and many surface areas. The Shop and Café are fully accessible with wheelchair-friendly toilet facilities also available around the site.
We also offer guided tours around the site and underground to those with visual impairments and guide dogs are permitted everywhere on site, including the underground section. If you have limited mobility or visual impairments and would like further information, please contact us to discuss your requirements. Please see our website for our full Accessibility Guide.
