Maldon is a historic market town on the banks of the River Blackwater.

The Hythe Quay is a historic working waterfront lined with shipwrights huts and piled with boat paraphernalia.  The quay is home to seven active Thames Sailing Barges dating back to 1895 and offers visitors excursions around the Crouch and Blackwater Estuaries, including birdwatching trips and historical tours.  The Blackwater Estuary is ideal for ramblers, birdwatchers and photographers. The town is renowned for its fine oysters and shellfish which are served in top restaurants all over the world.

Maldon is home to the world renowned Maldon Sea Salt.  It is an excellent place to explore the Maldon District's 75 miles of stunning saltmarsh coast and its numerous nature reserves.
