Whitby Museum is Whitby’s treasure trove!

Set in beautiful Pannett Park, Whitby Museum is the home of Whitby’s history, past to present. Here you can explore stunning collections of local fossils, natural history, model ships, carved jet, toys, costumes & social history. In fact, there’s something for everyone!

From enormous fossilized marine mammals; Whitby Abbey; Whitby Jet; and Whitby’s seafaring past to ZEPLIN III Dark Matter Detector used until recently at Boulby Underground Laboratory and the gruesome Hand of Glory!

We share our building with Pannett Art Gallery where you can stunning paintings by local artists including the Weatherill family and the Staithes group of artists.

And don’t forget to treat yourself to delicious homemade treats in our vintage tea room.

Truly something for everyone!

Accessibility Information

Level access is available at the rear of the building where there are also 4 parking spaces for blue badge holders. The Museum is housed on 3 floors all with lift access and accessible toilets on each level. A wheelchair is available for visitor use.
