Plan your perfect autumnal getaway to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

When autumn leaves start to fall and warm sun-kissed colours descend, the south coast is a wonderful place to enjoy a short break and embrace the change of the season.

Wrap up warm and step out for some fresh coastal air.

With the autumnal sun on your face, and a warm scarf there’s hardly ever a day that was not made better by a brisk stroll by the sea.

Grab the family, your friends and admire the breathtaking views as the waves crash onto Bournemouth beach. Did we mention we've got great sand?

Swimming is only for the very hardy in autumn, but it is still a great time to get out those buckets and spades and hit the beach. Sandcastles and collecting rocks and shells soon builds up an appetite so bring a picnic or head to one of the many eateries along our seafront and along the Quays.

After lunch head to the fabulous Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum in Bournemouth to explore the fascinating history and many incredible artefacts on display. Or for something more active swing by for a round of mini golf in the great outdoors at Smugglers Cove Adventure Golf.

Explore Christchurch and beyond to the New Forest. Wrap up with an extra layer and enjoy a wonderful long forest walk as the colours of autumn rain down with reds and golds of falling leaves flutter down, soak up the last of the sun and relax.

There is also plenty to keep the whole family interested in Poole at the beautiful Poole Park with a boating lake, a mini ride-on train and two children’s play parks. Why not head along the historic Poole Quay, follow the cockle trail or take a boat trip? Less than an hour west you can discover the stunning Purbecks and the Jurassic Coast with many amazing locations that really come alive this time of year.

The only way to top your autumn walk is with a well-earned meal and/or pint at a traditional pub! Cosy up after your embrace of the outdoors and check out which of our pubs, bars and restaurants in Poole and on the Quay take your fancy this autumn.
