At Clacton, you’ll find free summer seafront fireworks, buzzing arcades, fairground rides, golf and even an airfield for fun flight experiences, Essex’s largest coastal town is just an hour from London and with a packed event programme, is ideal for day-trippers or a longer break. 

With its unspoilt natural headland and fairground rides, Walton-on-the Naze offers the best of both worlds.  Hire a beach hut, go 10-pin bowling, try fossil hunting or cool off in its gardens, come for laid-back family downtime.

Just under an hour from London, Folkestone combines beaches, independent businesses and family attractions with a vibrant modern culture scene. 
Just steps from the town centre, Sunny Sands beach handily cuts out all the lugging of bags, parasols and deck chairs. Buzzing with shops, great places to eat at the chilled-out Harbour Arm plus the world’s first indoor skate park, Folkestone scores for all ages and stages. 

Leas Coastal Park blends fun with formal gardens and for summer ’26 the south east’s largest free play area reopens, a 350-seat amphitheatre hosting free music, comedy, storytelling and drama. 

Keen swimmers love nearby Mermaid Beach, tuck into snacks and ice-creams at its café, relax with a beach bbq in the evening. The Warren beach is the place for fossil-hunters and rock-poolers, get the kids stuck in scouring for treasure, it sits conveniently below Warren Country Park.

The Lincolnshire Coast has arguably more than its fair share of family fun attractions.
With scores of holiday parks to stay at, it boasts large-scale fairgrounds, water parks and entertainment centres, making the stretch  perfect for teens or toddlers.
