North East Coast - Seaham Food Festival

This vibrant, free annual event held along the Durham Heritage Coast brings together some of the north east region’s best street food, local produce and culinary talent for a fun-filled weekend by the sea.  

Taking place 1 and 2 August 2026, the festival features more than 100 traders, live cooking demonstrations from well-known TV chefs and a packed programme of entertainment including live music, theatre and family-friendly activities.  Come for an exciting mix of flavours from around the world, alongside artisan goods and locally sourced treats, all set against the stunning seafront backdrop. With its buzzing atmosphere and wide range of attractions, the festival transforms Seaham into a true food lover’s destination for the weekend.

Watch top chefs in action, discover new dishes, enjoy live entertainment and soak up the coastal atmosphere. Yorkshire Coast - Scarborough & Filey events

Market bargains abound at Scarborough Coble Market where you’ll discover street food and live music, plenty of artisans and local talent, it’s held monthly on Sundays July to September while the next Scarborough Food and Drink Festival takes place 10-11 April 2027.  More than 70 stalls loaded with fresh pies, fine chocolates, craft beers and spirits and much more feature at Filey Food Festival held on three weekends between June and October.

Essex’s seafood scene is booming!

Along the Essex coast, food festivals celebrate everything from seafood to local drinks.

Essex Coast - Maldon & Southend festivals

Events such as the Maldon Food and Drink Festival and the popular Smoke & Fire BBQ Festival, which returns to Maldon over the August Bank Holiday weekend, with a unique mix of barbecue food, bands, competitions and food and drink stalls. 

Events and attractions include first rounds of the Great British BBQ Competition and Steak Cook-Off World-class BBQ, fire jockeys demonstrating the magic of barbecue, live music and bands, rides for children.

The Sausage and Cider Festival returns to Southend in June and is set to bring you a day full of flavour. You’ll find waterside food events, live cookery demos, tastings and street food fill this coastline.

There’s just as much choice if you’re heading to the south coast giving plenty of choice for free days out. 

Dorset Coast - Coastal food festivals

Try and buy from an incredible choice of local produce at the Cheese & Chilli Festival in Christchurch, Dorset in May. As well as scores of cheeses, pick up chilli sauces and plants. Bridport’s Food Festival in June is a family affair with kids’ activities and hands-on sessions for creative young cooks alongside chef demos and cookery theatre. 

Celeb chefs and cookery demos also feature at the Highcliffe Food and Arts Festival in June. This event, just outside Christchurch, features aisles of stalls, crafts on the green, artisan food and drink and family-friendly live music from two stages. Learn how to prepare shellfish from top notch chefs, sample exotic fish fare and let the kids get stuck into crafts at the dedicated Little Fishes area. In Swanage, the Swanage Fish & Food Festival is staged in June, set on the Sandpit Field it overlooks Swanage Bay and makes the ideal weekend of food, fun and community spirit. 

The Dorset Seafood Festival at Weymouth Harbourside in July promises the very best in seafood with street food the star of the show, there’s a live music stage throughout the weekend, plenty of family entertainment as well as local Dorset wines and ales. 

In September, get your tastebuds tingling at Seafood and Sounds in Poole when Poole Quay and Old Town burst into life with food stalls, live music and a procession weaving through the town, celebrating all things seafood with the local community at its heart. From prawns to paella, this is a must for food fans, music lovers or those just looking for a great free day out.
